Please, I need some ideas. I am going to take off the wall paper with white and red flowers that the kitchen has on, I don't like it. It looks old fashion. What color should i paint my kitchen and dinning room. It is 8ft height, and 22 x 12, it has green tiles (5ft from the floor), white cabinets and red counter top. I just bought this house my fridge is black and all my kitchen appliances are blank too, what color you think will be good to paint it? what color will look good with this four colors (green, white, red, and black)?.
What color??????
OK... you have a complementary color scheme (Red %26amp; Green) in your kitchen, which is very vibrant and dramatic if you're a drama fan... the black and white create even more drama and contrast...
So, in my opinion you have 2 options for the walls:
1. try and shade or degree of green that matches your existing colors... this will liven up yr kitchen even more but it has a cooling effect at the same time. Green is very healthy in kitchens...! for accessories go for bolder degrees of the colors that you have...
2. white, specially if u want to show off yr kitchen set... it'll create the contrast needed... in this case use more red and green in the accessories...
don't forget that suitable lighting is essential in the kitchen... use midium general lighting (spot lights or cieling fixtures), preferably warm... use task lighting where u do your chores, and if u like use some decorative lighting in the cabinets if they have glass for example...
Good luck and ENJOY yr kitchen...!

Reply:wow u have a lot of kinda main colors going on. Let me ask u this? Do u like these colors... the green tile floors? The red counter tops... Obviously the black r kinda a keeper.. then white cabinets. R the cabinets painted white or new white cabinets.
Not that these colors couldn't work together but wow. I think a neutral color would look good but i'm afraid u'll jst b adding ANother color then i may turn out to b a circus in there.
If some of those colors were jst accents instead of main pieces u could get away w/ all those colors but.... soooo here's my thots.
Can u %26amp; would u want to paint the cabinets? Again do u like the green or red that is going on in there? I think what's imaginging in my mind is those white cabinets. When i think of all those colors, i think of a fruity kitchen ( not that isn't bad..thus the wallpaper) so what r u aiming for? European look, contemporary/modern, bright %26amp; funky.. that's what u need to look at.
sooo If it was my kitchen.. %26amp; I wanted to go w/ European look (old world) Play off the red more. I would antique the cabinets w/ a nice brown glaze %26amp; paint the walls a 2tone red %26amp; deep red that would b close to the black. OR to make it more "old world" I would paint the walls a tan that would go w/ the glaze on the cabinets.. then put diff. shades of red/black %26amp; some touches of the dk gr in bricks on the wall. Just here %26amp; there. Just like the wall is covering it. U could do the tan on tan so it would give it a parchament look, but not a solid tan.
Contemp/modern.. keep it sleek. Tan walls w/ black %26amp; poss either green or red accents.. not both.
Bright %26amp; funky. Do a few walls in Red %26amp; few in Green.. leave the white %26amp; Add more black %26amp; white accents.
Go to the paint store. Look at colors that u like, then get several samples of them %26amp; put them on u'r walls. C how they look thru out the day %26amp; nt %26amp; go from there.
Figure what U'R aiming for... then go that direction. Have fun! I hope some of those ideas helped.
Reply:Try a Taupe color- something much deeper than plain old off white or antique white. Taupe as in dark khaki. Lowe's has a color by Laura Ashley called "Taupe 4" and it is gorgeous. It works well with most earth tone colors that you've mentioned.
Yellow shades are common in kitchens. The shade will depend on what your countertop color is specifically, as in the actual shade and tone.
Blueish-Greys are also popular and nice. Blue with a hint of grey to it to tone it down and away from Carolina Blue or Sky Blue... more of an earth tone blue, if that makes sense.
Reply:A very pale yellow would go nicely, and brighten the blacks that are there.I love those colors for a barn yard theme in the kitchen.Roosters and barns,on borders will work good.Or plain modern will do..
Reply:I'm not a decorator or any thing, but why don't you try a brick treatment.
you just put the glue stuff on the wall then put the brick in it and let it harden. it's not a full size brick, it's like 1/4 inch think or something.
Reply:i think you should take the color that reveals more in you kitchen.if it's green you should take the same green and if it's one of the other colors you should do the same
Reply:a warm green color.
Reply:maybe a different shade of green or red, like a pale lime or reddish brown color
Reply:White suits everything and it makes your kitchen looks brighter too!
Reply:id say a light orange kind of a creamy orange not like a high lighter orange
Reply:everything will go perfect with this color. Green goes good with Khaki right? (Well that is the color of my room anyway...khaki and and olive green) So go with a light brown! I promise it will look great! and then you can hang pictures of places and stuff like that with dark brown frames.
Reply:Since the counter top is red and that is more predominate than the(green?) floor, I would play off of the red and black.I would use a neutral wall color like sand, tan, coffee,or textured like a wheat-grass paper. You can lay a nice floor cloth or natural area rug or one with the red, tans, and blacks down to help with the green. Then the dining area can be more formal with the tan-ish color and be accented with reds, deep red, and the black(like a deep red cloth with black candle holders, black and red dishes,multi-red flower arrangement, deep red napkins, goldish curtains to blend in with the walls). You may want to paint the cabinets the wall color also so there won't be so much color going on in one small room.It will be more cohesive and stylish.Try to keep the red, black, and tans the main decorating colors but it will be great with your own personal items for splashes of other colors.Use towels, flowers, and kitchen table decor in the red, black, golds, and tans. You can also paint the tiles!! There is a way to paint them and they really look nice. You can ask at a home depot how to do it.That would really take care of the wide variety of colors.Hope this helps and best wishes!
Reply:I think a off white would look nice. It would make your kitchen and dining room look bigger and brighter.
