Calling All PPL with a sense of DECORATING!! lol?

My daughter (5) wants to redo her room.

the colors she has chosen are chocolate, magenta, and baby pink. HOWEVER! We cannot reach an agreement on a theme for the room.

Here is a list of themes we both can live with, but nothing has been made definite. And the painters will be here first thing monday morning.

THEME A) one wall mural of a fairytale kingdom

B) princess and crown decorations.

C) retro flower power and swirls.

D) pin-stripe pattern on walls w/ chocolate, magenta and light pink

l would go with c) retro flower power and swirls

a+b) she would out grow that in about 9-10 years.

but l would let her make the final decision.
Reply:I would say D, she will be older soon and D will still work with her new ideas as she gets a little older. The others will be too childish as she grow. D sounds really pretty and she can add those other things to it as accessories or bed comforter, and curtains.=======
Reply:Well, you really are under the gun.

If you go with (C): For the retro look, bright and bold orange, sun yellow, lime green with watermelon pink would give you the 60's retro color palette. It is not the colors of her choice but, you could use these in her bedding and use a plain dust ruffle and valance. Then paint the walls a light pink (which is softer for the innocent child) with an accent wall in the stripe on the wall behind her bed with the bed facing the best view. Use a 2 1/2" to 3" stripe of the pink and magenta. I think a pinstripe on all the walls would be a little to much.

(Green is the complimentary color to pink).

If you go with (D): I would still use the light pink on the walls with the stripe accent wall, or you could stripe all the walls. I would leave out the brown in the stripe and use it as a comforter or coverlet with a combination of all the colors in a stripe dust ruffle and valance. Use light pink sheets and if you could match the stripes in the dust ruffle, add some extra pillow cases with the pink. Pick up the brown again in combination with maybe some wall letters of maybe her name. Then again in some lamp shades.

I hope that I did not make you more confused. Good luck with your project and try to get some samples of paint this weekend to try on the wall before he gets there.

You should try to look for her bedding this weekend also. Paint is the last thing to pick out when decorating. It should be chosen from your fabric.

All these colors will look great with brown or white furniture.

Good Luck!
Reply:Pain the room light pink. Its a neutral enough color that will go with just about anything else she brings in. Find light pink bedding as well....check pottery barn kids for ideas. Use the brown and magenta as accent colors for accessories so that when she decides in 2 years that she hates those colors, you don't have to re-paint. Princess and crowns sounds nice and would work with the fairytale kingdom mural. Good luck.
Reply:I think (D) would be perfect. the colors are vibrant and fit a 5 year olds color scheme. Have fun with it!! Great choses.
