Redecorating room!!!!?

i am 17.


my room is fairly small.


it is light purple.


i want a more mature looking room.


currently it has a bunch of flower and butterfly stuff. (which i am getting rid of.)


i love my bedspread. (white with purple, blue, gold flower like down the middle -not kiddy. its more mature)


i have a few "vintage" stuff like a purple little mirror and one of those purple mirror trays and a decorative box. and a nice dark wood jewlery box.)


i was wondering do you think my room would look good if i paint one wall dark/bright purple and the other three white with that purple stripes (not small and together but rather large and apart)???


about how much paint would i need?? and about how much would it cost???


also any good websites for decorative items to make my room look more mature??

Your 17. You should be thinking about what you will grow into, that will make you proud. I wouldhave the accent wall and paint the rest of the walls a earth tone. Just change to an asian theme or something like that.





Take some pictures of things you like and crop them and blow them up to the size you want and keep the decor to a minimum. People get things so over cluttered its really sad.





Go to the book store and look at magazines about decorating and then get a feeling about how you want to go. You want to have a nice place to visit when you are in college.
Reply:I agree on the accent wall, A lavender or plum. the other 3 walls , white.Thats plenty of purple. Pull colors out of you bedspread, blue and white accents. Replace your mirror, and tray with ones in silvertone.measure your floor space ,width by length. When you go to the paint store , give them your measurements. Don't forget to add a plant. It really adds that special touch. JC Penny has some nice curtains. If you room is small, stick to light weight curtains, same color as wall,to make your room look bigger.
Reply:A dark color on 1 wall w/ white on the rest won't look right. Why don't u leave the bottom 1/2 of ypur room the light purple %26amp; paint the top 1/2 the blue or gold color that's in your comforter?


Dark colors make a room look smaller.

Reply:Hang some small framed art will make your small room feel bigger. The brushberry dot com site allow you to preview art work on a virtual wall - you can pick any wall color to match your room. They also have many small black and wite art. Will pretty much go with any decor.
