Help with potted bouganvillias for a privacy screen?

I'm in Southern California, and I wanted to grow some potted climbing vines on a trellis to make a privacy wall on my patio. I love bouganvillias so I started there. While they flower often, they are long and spindly instead of full -- they're not providing the privacy screen I wanted. Do pots just limit the roots and therefore the growth of bouganvillias? Is there a trick to helping it grow nice and full, or should I be trying another potted vine that would provide fuller coverage of the trellis?

Use a weekly watering with a bloom buster fertilizer (the second number should be higher than 40). Miracle Gro makes one called "Bloom Buster." You should notice a BIG difference in a month, fuller, leafier.

Pots do stunt some of the growth in pots, but bouganvillea is very hardy.
Reply:How big's the pot? Where is the plant (e,w,n,s?) Your Q is unanswerable without more specific info.
Reply:Yes, pots can limit the growth. Get a huge pot and transplant it. Also, try some Miracle Gro moisture control potting mix on your plant. I love bougainvilleas
