I have many paintings. Some are pairs, and some aren%26#039;t. Some are of landscapes, flowers, and some are more industrial and urban. Basically, because of the various styles, many of them don%26#039;t look right if put next to each other, thus I generally reserve each wall in my house to only 1 or two paintings. However, I have about 20 paintings that are just collecting dust in my basement because I haven%26#039;t figured out a way to incorporate them into my decor. How can I display them all without my house looking like a mishmashed art gallery?
Dilemma of too many paintings and not enough wall space?
Sort them by season or color scheme or size or frame. Find a system.
Then you could change them out at different times of the year, so they would all get some exposure. Be sure to utilize EVERY room, including the bathrooms. They are wonderful places for nice pictures.
Or do one entire wall of art. Many of the pictures. You may need someone with a good eye (only if you do not feel you can do it) to help with a large arrangement.
Limiting a wall to only 1 or 2 paintings seems a waste. Of course you have to coordinate the ones you put together. With similar frames or content.
Good Luck.
Reply:Hang from ceiling, double sided, so they can spin.
Or...
Mount flat against the ceiling so you can see them while you lay on the floor.
Reply:Maybe try using some narrow display shelves. You could do a few rows on one wall and prop the artwork up rather than hanging it. You can overlap them some and sort of create a collage. You could easily switch them out or rearrange them as the mood strikes. This picture illustrates, but on a small scale http://images.scrippsweb.com/HGTV/2002/0...
Reply:Be sure to use paintings in your bathroom, halls and any nook that you can. In my %26quot;office%26quot; I do have a mishmashed art gallery because I am in this room most often (not a room others see) and it make me happy to have all of my paintings around my work space.
Reply:Rotate them through for different occasions. If you have stuff suitable for summer or winter then use them at the appropriate times. Just change them when the mood strikes you!
