Bedroom ideas? 13 year old girl?

I have one idea but I%26#039;m not sure. I was gonna go with a sort of gothish theme...but it%26#039;s not really gothish...just dark. I wanted to paint my walls a dark red shade and have black light bulbs to make the room a little darker. I would hang up Japanese fans that my dad got me from Japan on my walls and buy some Chinese lanterns and hang those up. I have some book shelves but they%26#039;re white so I%26#039;d paint them a dark color. and I%26#039;d get a new bed.





So here are my questions:


1. What color curtains to go with my dark red gothy wall?


2. What color lantern(s)?


3. What kind of bed? Wooden? Metal? something else?


4. Can you find any pics of bedspreads I might like? Or describe something for me?





And do you think this theme is way too overplayed? I just want something different because I%26#039;m moving to a new state and right now the room I have now as light blue walls and pictures of flowers everywhere.

I think that if you%26#039;re going to have an asian style sort of room, maybe a more vibrant shade of red for the walls? I know that if I walked into a room with dark red walls and black furniture, I%26#039;d immediately think of blood. That%26#039;s not a good thing if you don%26#039;t want nightmares! But I do like black and red for an asian style room. Maybe black curtains?

I was thinking, maybe a wooden bed- especially if you get wooden floors? And the lanterns could match the wood color :)
Reply:okay for curtains i think you should go with like black or black and red together, the lanterns would probably look good if they were red and black or red and gold or gold and black. i think a wooden bed would be good, and i would try wakeupfrankie.com for bedspreads

Reply:I think that%26#039;s a huge change to jump to right away, and it%26#039;s a lot of work and new furniture. Although I do love the idea, based on my own experience, there%26#039;s a good possibility that you%26#039;ll be sick of it much sooner than you think.





That being said, black and red always work well together! Silver would also be a good accent as well. Something with black- or silver-painted metal would be good for the bed as well.

Reply:i don%26#039;t think dark is the way to go. Do something bright. I just redid my room. It is purplr, green, and pink. Any threesome of colors is a great choice. My walls r a light purple. My mom did green and pink fancy designs on the wall. I got 2 green bean bag chairs and pink sparkly curtains. It just makes it so much funner when it is bright. I wouldn%26#039;t want to be in a dark room all the time. I would get depressed. As i said threesomes of colors work great in rooms. If u can%26#039;t do fancy designs, then put cool artwork on the walls, make ur own, splatter some paint on paper, frame it and hang it up. A teenage girls room should be a fun space that u want to hang out in. Where u could be u. Another good idea is to have a theme. My theme was tinkerbelle colors! There doesn%26#039;t have to be tinkerbelle in the room for it to be tinkerbelle themed! Good Luck!!
Reply:Hmm.. Good question haha! I%26#039;m 13 too so hopefully i can help you out! I sort of have dark red walls too, so i know what your dealing with. Ok, so for the curtains you could go with the basic %26#039;black%26#039; or white. but since your trying to go with a dark look, i would go with black.


--Colored lanterns-- you could go with not as dark red as your walls but not pink either. just do a red that would good with it.


--bed-- It depends on what kind of feel your going for, a wooden one would make it have a modern feel to it, (do a medium shade of that, not to light or dark) and the metal one would make it look goth. so if that%26#039;s what your going for there you go!


--bed spreads-- I actually have the perfect bedsprend that would match your room, it is a darkest red, and it has stripes, some of the stripes are red, some a darkest purple, and then there are really really REALLY thin lines of a goldish color.


The theme might be overplayed if you go WAY overboard. so just make sure that your not going completely overboard with the lanterns and colors. And the japenese stuff. just do a couple of them here and there (depends on how big your room is.)
Reply:To keep your room from being TOO dark, you should keep some white in there.

4. Red or black bedspread (doesn%26#039;t need to be a solid color), white sheets, pillows the same color as bedspread





I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s too overplayed, I personally don%26#039;t know that many people who%26#039;ve got their room all matching and decorated. If they do, it%26#039;s always pastel colors and flowers, never anything dark =|





Also, to accessorize it, you can get some glass vases and put some pretty dark red flowers in em (fake ones). Get red candles, and black candle holders. Get matching end tables for your bed. If your an artistic type person, paint your own pictures and put em on your wall. Or, what I did was I painted a giant mural on my main wall (my room%26#039;s colors are lilac, dark purple, black, and white, so, thats what my mural%26#039;s colors are).
