How can I get my dog to stop digging and stop eating cat poop?

My dog kicks dirt out of our flower beds and does whatever it takes to get to the litter pan to eat the cat's poop. How can we make her stop? We have an electronic fence, but we never factored in the beds. Is paying to have it completely redone our only option? She will not stay out despite being yelled at and told no a million times. She doesn't get it and I don't know how to get her to understand KEEP OUT! Meanwhile, we face our cat pan door to the back wall but the dog will move the hamper in our bathroom to get to the pan and push it so that she can get in and feast away. Nasty! My husband wants to get rid of the dog, who is six years old. I've had the dog longer than my husband! Help!

Put a fence around your flowerbed and keep the cat litter out of reach. Problem solved!
Reply:Get rid of your husband for being such a grump! Can't your cat go out side to poop? That would at least solve that problem! I do know that dogs don't respond well at being shouted at as they don't understand what you are saying and they don't understand that what they are doing annoys you. They just know you are angry with them but they don't know why! Look up a dog training book or a professional dog trainer. Don't shout at your dog anymore.
Reply:she is digging out of bordom. you have to give her something else to do. do you take her on walks or to the park? maybe get out a couple times a week and walk her. give her some toys in the backyard and dont let her see you dig in the garden when you are weeding, planting, etc...

As for the litter box, there are ones you can buy that have a funny looking top that, depending on her size, she should not be able to get into. Unless shes the size of the cat.

Here is a helpful site on dog training.

Here is just one style that might work. there are others that would also make it difficult for her to get at the cat poo.

By the way- the box with the "funny lid" I was talking about is called a Booda Boodaloo coverd cat box.
Reply:Don't get rid of the dog!!! Watch the Dog Whisperer Fridays on National Geographic, Cesar Milan is a genius when it comes to dogs and their owners. He can discipline and rehabilitate any dog.
