Getting skunk smell out of cellar?!?

A skunk sprayed near my flower beds right outside my house, near the only window in my cellar (and of course it was open that night). I am not sure if the skunk actually got some spray into the house through the window or if it has just seeped into the wall from the outside. This was days ago, and we have had a lot of rain recently but the smell still remains in my entire basement. I have tried Febreze, Lysol, even hosing down outside but nothing has helped. Right now I have a window fan sitting in the window bringing in fresh air as it has cooled off into the 60's. This is our finished basement where our only TV is so any help would be much appreciated. We have carpeting and furniture all over the basement if that helps. Thanks!

Getting skunk smell out of cellar?!?
Wow...

You poor thing...

Baking soda is a natural odor absorbant. I would sprinkle it all over the carpet and let it sit all day... Then I would go vacuum it up... Tomato paste or canned tomatoes will take care of the odors outside. I had a dog that got sprayed. This was the only way I got it off of him... He was in misery... and it worked fantastically

good luck...

Edit:

Sorry I was in a rush when I posted that. The tomato paste I smeared all over my dog and it was amazing how it absorbed the odor. I would get a garden sprayer buy a gallon of tomato sauce or paste and water it down some and spray the entire area outside where the skunk sprayed. Since it is all vegetable (tomato paste) it will not harm anything in your yard.

Come back and let us know what worked for you...

Good Luck...
Reply:Get some 3/4 peroxide, 1 tsp dish soap,2 table spoons baking soda, mix and put it in a spray bottle should neutralize the smell completely.
Reply:There are only two things I know of that will help with the skunk odor, charcoal and time. Place charcoal in your basement. The charcoal will absorb the odor. You will need to replace it frequently. This takes time...does not happen over night.
Reply:First I would try to either steam clean your carpet and furniture . Or you you could just try canned carpet cleaner. Wash your walls down with pinesol. Buy some of them plugin air fresheners. That should do it I hope.
Reply:Fill a spray bottle with vinegar and spray all fabric and carpet with it. It may stink like vinegar for a while but it beats skunk spray--( they are actually quite similar ) After a day or so the vinegar smell will fade and the skunk smell should be gone!! I hope this works and good luck!!!
