I really want to paint my walls with flowers and clouds and everything in between. The questions are: What paint am I suppose to you? And Am I suppose to do something to the walls before doing it?
Paint walls?
I%26#039;m no painting expert, but I have done a lot of little projects around our home. If I were doing something like painting a flower and cloud scene I would just use small bottles of accrylic paint that comes from craft stores. It%26#039;s inexpensive and you can use lots of differnt colors that way. I could be wrong, but I think enamel is more for metal surfaces? Well, as I said I%26#039;m no expert! But something like Plaid or Folk Art brand accrylic paint should do fine. A friend of mine painted with accrylic%26#039;s on her daughter%26#039;s bedroom wall - a tree and the whole clan from Winnie the Pooh and it turned out beautiful!
As far as anything you should do to the wall before hand, if it were me, I would prepare the wall as you would any other painting project. It%26#039;s a good idea to wipe it down to remove dirt or dust from the wall, and if the wall is a dark color you may want to prime it first. You can buy primer for interior painting at a paint store or someplace like Lowe%26#039;s or Home Depot. If you have dark or white walls and your happy to have those dark or white walls as your background then you don%26#039;t really have to do anything. :) You could seal the paint with something when you%26#039;re finished, possibly an accrylic paint sealer, but if it were me, I%26#039;d probably just leave it. Chances are you%26#039;ll paint over it eventually anyhow, and walls aren%26#039;t like floors, you%26#039;re not going to have a lot of physical contact with them. :)
My only suggestion in painting flowers or murals or something fun like that, is to keep in mind that in the future if you want to paint a solid color over your mural, you will HAVE to use a primer first to cover all the different colors so your new color will go on evenly. Also, watch how thick you apply the paint when creating your mural - if you have say, leaves that you used sort of thick paint on, you will either have to sand the ridges of the paint down before you can paint over it later, or the ridges will show through your paint.
Ok, good luck! :) Hope my long winded answer was helpful! :)
Reply:You can use any type of paint but, enamel works best. However, you will need to start with a good surface. To prepare the surface, use a good quality primer, Zinser.
